Product Review: DDM Duo Fixx Cherry Bomb Lip & Cheek Stain

I had the pleasure of testing out DDM Cosmetics’ Duo Fixx Cherry Bomb Lip & Cheek Stain over the last few weeks. They sent it along with a few lipsticks, which I already reviewed in this DDM LED Lipstick post.DDM Cosmetics' Duo Fixx Cherry Bomb Lip & Cheek Stain

With DDM Duo Fixx, get a staying power of a stain, with intense 24hrs color. Using exclusive prolong lip wear technology. This innovative formula saturates lips with moisture for full or sheer coverage that is non-transferable, kiss proof won’t dry out or crack your lips. So you can wear DDM color with confidence. This product is made in Canada, and is available in Racy, a vivid red with cool undertones. Perfect for any skin tone. Retails for $15.95.

My first thought was “OMG! cheek stain is level 10 on the expert scale, let’s see how this goes!”Although I am a makeup artist, there are products I tend to avoid on clients; false lashed, liquid liner and stains! Using a stain can be beautiful and light, but it definitely requires practice! Once you get the hang of it, it gets really addictive. It looks so natural and lasts all day.

  1. Lightly draw 3 whiskers on your cheeks with the brush.
  2. Quickly use your finger to blend it outwards (the heat from your skin will help to disperse the product evenly).

This product is heavily pigmented, so time is not on your side.

The picture below is my first attempt. On the right cheek, you will notice that I drew on heavier lines, because they don’t blend in as well. On the left, I went for more faint lines and it really blended in the skin nicely. I also applied the stain on my lips, maybe 3 coats, which I adored! Look at that colour, you cannot get that kind of light application and intense pigment in a lipstick.

DDM Duo Fixx on my lips and cheeks. Note that the right cheek had a heavy application and the left cheek had a lighter application.

I can get used to this rosy look!

The last photo is me after dinner. Yup, the lips are intact and still very kissable!

For folks who love stains (hi mom!), this is definitely for you!

You may be familiar with Benefit’s “bene tint“(which retails for $30), it’s essentially the same product but for half the price. A great deal if you ask me!

Product Review: DDM LED Lipsticks

DDM LED Lipsticks in Giovanna (Nude), Isabela (purple, matte) & Audrey (red, soft matte) {$14.95}

As you all know, I love lipstick! Particularly a bold and bright lip. This is why I am so excited to write this product review.

Almost one month ago, I reached out to the DDM Cosmetics team to see if I could play with some of their lipsticks in efforts to find the best summer lips! I was thrilled when they agreed and sent me a few products to test out.DDM Cosmetics LED Lipstick product review

I have been playing around with these lippies for enough time that I feel comfortable with my review.

First, about the company.

DDM Cosmetics is Sexy, Bold, Vibrant, True Long-Lasting super-pigmented lipsticks & Liquid Lipsticks that will turn heads. All products are VEGAN, CRUELTY-FREE and PARABEN- FREE. DDM Cosmetics are packed with Antioxidant, vitamins E, and minerals with a high pigment, light weight and non-drying formula. Versatile, shiny and sheer with shades to complement every skin tone. Diego DeMatos, is the superbly ambitious Creative Director of DDM Cosmetics, based out of Toronto, Canada. On June 22, 2015, DDM was featured on Flare Magazine’s website for “15 Indie Beauty Brands You Need to Know About

What I love most about the company is their amazing bright colour selection, literally every “must-have” shade has been perfected. I also love that they have a high intense pigment, a prolonged wear, a “clean & safe” DDM recipe and of course their friendly customer service. The lipsticks also come with a small mirror on the cover, which is a brilliant packaging idea for reapplying on the go!

Here I am in the wild, testing out my top favourite colours! I was in New Orleans a few weeks ago and put my friend to the test as well. It was hot, humid and lots of drinks to be had, perfect environment for product testing! We both agreed that we love the intensity of the pigments and the long wear. I was particularly a fan of the soft matte texture which was so buttery and soft on the lips. It helped to keep my lips moisturized without bleeding over the edges (which is a common problem that I avoid by using MAC Prep and Prime Lip).

Giovanna (nude lip) and Audrey (red lip)

Isabela (purple)

You all know my reporting style is to stay honest and true to my word. There are always a few kinks, with any product, and I want to share my full experience with you. The soft matte texture is delicious, but comes off after eating. If you’re wearing a light nude lip, this isn’t so much of a problem. It becomes more of an issue with bright colours like the red or purple. No one likes half faded lipstick… I tend to just wipe it all off before eating. At least we know it’s safe to ingest!

On the other side of the coin, the matte texture is more dry to apply, but lasts way longer. I have dry lips, so I like something that goes on wet and dries more matte. I think I would do better with their liquid lipstick.

DDM Cosmetic LED Lipstick Alexia vs Joyce

A few Shades I am dying to try! Alexia (pink) and Joyce (deep purple)

To recap- At $14.95, these lippies are a steal! The gorgeous and brite colour selection alone should convince you to pick up a few and play! I like supporting local independent cosmetic companies who take they time to perfect their products and make sure that they are safe. In this case, paraben-free, vegan and cruelty-free take the win for me. In a lifetime, we ingest too many cosmetics, so going safe should be top of mind.

I love following DDM’s Instagram account and drooling over their new products and colours. Give them a follow and you’ll see what I mean.

I am starting a new category on my blog and I am calling it “Makeup Crush” which will feature #MakeupStyle of people that inspire me!

Today, I am featuring Kiesza, who always seems to have her lips on point! I think what I love the most is her bold choice in lipstick colours, something we share a great deal in common.

Laura Mercier’s ‘Paint Wash’ liquid lipsticks

Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid lipstick ottawa beauty expert blogger

Up on the blog is all about my new lipstick love… Laura Mercier’s ‘Paint Wash’ liquid lipsticks!

I discovered this lipstick at the Nordstrom Gala, back in March. Apparently, I started a thing with this fuschia colour because everyone there now knows me as “oh, you’re the girl with the bright fuschia lipstick!”… hahaha… it’s very flattering!

To be safe, I bought the pale pink colour first, to make sure I would like it before committing to a darker colour. Now I am hooked and I want them all! The colours are gorgeous and vibrant. Laura Mercier really nailed down all the staple colours.

Bar none- my top 3 favourite soaps

I love soap. Nice soap. Not cheapy soap from the drug store, I ditched those a long time ago. I don’t like how they dry out your skin and the sharp scent to them. I always treat myself to a fine bar of soap. They last longer and have less chemicals in them.

For over 12 years, I have been using “The Guelph Soap Co“. For $1.89 a bar, you can’t go wrong! My favourite scent is the Oatmeal, Goat Milk and Honey. It smells so clean and with that hint of musk that I love. The darker bar below is Tea tree, Primrose and Rosemary. I usually buy these in the grocery store near the health food aisle.

My new favourite treat is buying a “Lothantique” bar of soap in Sandalwood, Milk or Ginger. Each bar typically retails for $10. They all offer a clean,¬†musky and neutral scent that are perfect for a base scent. They won’t compete with your perfume of cream and leave the bathroom smelling delicious! These French soaps can be found in numerous boutique or can be purchased online.

My newest “must-have” is Ottawa’s very own “Purple Urchin” soap bars, which retail for $6 a bar. They can be purchased in numerous boutique in Ottawa, including Whole Foods! Or you can visit their store in China Town. I absolutely love the more masculine scents like “Cedarific, Man Soap, Kindling and Howling Forest”. Again, these neutral scents offer a perfect base and leave your skin moisturize and smelling like a forest! PU has a multitude of scents in they soap collection, a must see!

What my summer smells like

¬†This summer, I “Wish” to smell like “warm vanilla bean and rice flower, delicately frosted with sugar pastille…” the gorgeous description goes on and on. Lollia’s Chapter 22 collection: Wish¬†is such a beautifully balanced perfume with¬†sweet, citrus and warm¬†notes, perfect for summer.

  • Eau de Parfum {$50}
  • Shea Butter Soap {$10}
  • Petite treat hand cream {$7.50}

You can buy them online or at Chapters. I purchased my trio at Dream Weaver (a gifting boutique in Westboro), because as you know, I love to support local!

Lollia offers¬†many different collections of scents. My second favourite is “Number 17:¬†At Last“. To be honest, they all smell so wonderful, it’s worth getting something from each collection! I urge you to check them out!
